My Graduate Diploma was more fun to receive, and gave me more letters after my name (which I never use) and a prettier piece of paper than my Master’s Degree, and was far less work and drama to get. Figures.

Whomever thinks you don’t deserve something because “you’re not good enough” is an idiot and lacking in anything useful to contribute. Standards of artistry are by their nature subjective to some degree. Furthermore, it has no relevance to whether or not you should have something. That’s like saying you deserve a good pair of shoes because you’re not an Olympic athlete.

If you want something that’s reasonable (and this entirely is), and have the means to get it, then you deserve it. And ifbyou think it will help you improve your your craft, then that’s more of a reason to get it, not less.
