The reason I say this is because a lot of other countries teach English in schools – most of them use the British version… which makes sense since it’s the historical nexus of English.

I’m from Romania and I’m used to spelling it as ‘colour’. That sed more then a decade on the Internet has bent my spelling more towards American English (I… I think?), but some things tend to remain.
